The Good & The Bad: November Edition

Surprisingly this month’s purchases weren’t that disappointing, although there were still some products that certainly didn’t live up to their hype or hefty price tag!In last month’s post i included all affordable products, this month’s post will be more on the expensive side bar two products. So lets talk about the good & bad beauty products for november – What was hot and what was not this month?!

Gerard cosmetics SLAY setting spray, not cheap and actually quite hard to get hold of.I could only find this on a select few websites, for around £17.I had high hopes,i’d seen quite a few people who had been using it for years rave about it.It is a great setting spray don’t get me wrong,my makeup lasts longer and it controls my oil.The disappointing side to this spray is the packaging, particularly the spritz. It sprays water droplets all over my face, the pump is a little stiff even after weeks of using it.This makes getting an even layer of product over my face difficult and for £17 i didn’t expect the spray to be that crap. It’s good but i wouldn’t repurchase it,because of my personal preference,i like a finer mist!

Two products from Tarte that were both disappointments,Tarte’s rainforest of the sea foundation and shape tape concealer.I wrote a review on the rainforest of the sea foundation here with comparison swatches against my other foundations etc,if you fancy a read.In a nutshell it’s a nice everyday foundation but lacks coverage and is overpriced! As for Tarte’s shape tape concealer,it is not what i was expecting! You really only need a smidge of product to cover dark circles and blemishes, otherwise it looks cakey. One thing i dislike about this concealer is how drying it is,everybody is different i know but it really does make my under eyes look dry and it creases like a bitch!I wouldn’t repurchase this,i feel like it is not for girls that have hooded eyes and a crease below their bottom lashes.I can’t use it as an eyeshadow base either,it ruins my eyeshadow with the creasing.

The i want Kandee palette is just gorgeous,it smells like cake and blends like a dream.I bought this a while ago now and i reach for it regularly. The mattes blend beautifully and are buildable, the shimmers are best applied with a finger or a dense brush. My full review with swatches is available here.It really is one of those palettes that you don’t regret dropping £30+ on and Kandee is such a sweetheart aswell,i’m happy to support her.

Apologies for the quality of the photo,Autumn downfall and all that…

This is my first Makeup Revolution purchase, shocking i know.I saw this on instagram a few weeks ago,as a dupe for the Charlotte Tilbury sculpt and highlight palette.I’ve not swatched CT’s palette but the quality of the MUR bronzer and highlight is good.I wasn’t expecting much when i ordered it from the Superdrug website,it’s not the best powder contour i’ve tried.I mean hoola, hello?!Both products have a gold sheen to them, obviously the highlight has more.I would say the highlight shade is like a very subtle champagne pop dupe.I’ve been using them quite a bit and i like how they blend and build up.I would recommend this if you like illuminating face products.

I love Anastasia Beverly Hills,i own a few of their products and i’m forever wanting more.Lately i’ve been using the liquid lipstick in the shade lovely,it’s a perfect mauve shade for this time of year. The formula is great quality,it’s not uncomfortable and has amazing longevity.I highly recommend these and i will definitely be buying more.

Last but not least is L’Oreal’s blush in plum lipstick, purchased from superdrug. Again bought online and we all know when we buy online the swatch you see and shade you get isn’t always the same.Which is very much the case here!Online it looked a deep plum shade,no glitter just a nice creamy lipstick.A little disappointed that it wasn’t as dark as the swatch but i think it’ll be perfect in the summertime. It does have glitter running through, which gives it an iridescent sheen. On a positive note though, the shape of the lipstick is great,i love how sharp the tip is,allows for precise application.Would i repurchase another lipstick from this range,no but i do want to try their liquid lipsticks.

What products have you recently bought that you’re loving and think i should try or products you were disappointed by and think i should avoid.Let me know in the comments.x
