How wrong people’s perceptions can be.
For me,becoming overwhelmed is a sign of strength – being strong for too long,there is only so much one person can achieve and it is OK to take a step back and breathe.It takes a lot for me to feel like this but when the pressure of other people’s demands becomes too high my natural instinct is to shut down.
Over the past 3 years i have learnt some valuable life lessons in looking after my own emotional wellbeing.Over this period i have lost “friends” & family because they can’t seem to understand how important it is to me to simply lead a happy life.
I’ve been called all the names under the sun to put it frank,all because i’ve stopped putting myself and my family in situations that have a negative impact on our mental health.
I am a firm believer of not letting things get to me and i don’t,no one wants to be a debbie-downer.It’s one reason i love my social media,i pick what i want to see and i follow people who are positive (not always,that wouldn’t be relatable) but they are nice human beings and i love to talk to them.
Ok,enough of the negative vibes this post is about what i do to make myself feel happy when i’m feeling low.
1.Giving myself 10 minutes with a cup of tea and some biscuits.Not the healthiest of options i know,but i love sitting down with my favourite mag and reading about what’s hot and what’s not.It takes my mind off things for a little bit and after ive had a flick through and some much wanted sugar i feel much more relaxed and able to deal with things.
2.Cleaning…Yes i said cleaning,i find this a very satisfying,therapeutic chore that i love to hate to do.It’s a bit like working out,you procrastinate about doing it,despise the fact you need to do it,but the feeling of satisfaction afterwards outweighs all the negative thoughts you had beforehand.It makes me so happy to see a clean/tidy/organised room (even if it doesn’t last for more than a day).
3.Similar to cleaning i like to get organised,whether that means finishing a post i’ve had in my drafts for ages or printing and laminating that new sticker chart.Ticking off my to do list is an instant mood booster,as long as this isn’t the actual reason I’ve become stressed in the first place.I’m currently planning a trip to WDW so making ADR and making notes of suitable rides is also a good distraction from everything else.
4.You might of guest i would include a soak in the bath if you’ve read my previous posts,i mean would my top 5 be mine if i didn’t.As it’s now autumn i can happily have a gorgeous soak using a bath bomb and some oils.I can’t tell you the amount of times i’ve had an awful day and felt like a chewed piece of string,had a bath and felt like a new woman.Anything that smells of jasmine,bubblegum or coconut (not altogether) are my favourites.
5.Lastly if i still feel rubbish after doing all of the above,i buy those items i spotted last week in the sale.I love browsing through the online offers section,i’ve found some great deals by doing this.

Just remember this,no one else’s happiness is more important than your own. (unless you consider your offspring,then of course they come first,before everything).
Look after yourself,your mind will thank you for it.
